1. Service Description

Sealed (“the Service”) is a digital time capsule platform that allows users to create, seal, and deliver personal messages, photos, voice notes, and contextual snapshots to themselves or others at a future date. The Service is operated at openwhenitstime.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sealed. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Capsule Credits

  • New users receive 3 free capsule credits upon account creation.
  • Additional credits may be purchased in packs through the Service.
  • Credits are non-refundable once purchased. Each credit is consumed when a capsule is sealed.
  • Credits have no monetary value and cannot be transferred, traded, or exchanged for cash.
  • Credits do not expire. Purchased credits remain in your account indefinitely.

4. Irreversibility

Once a capsule is sealed, it cannot be edited, viewed, or deleted by anyone -- including you and including us. Capsule content is encrypted upon sealing, and the sealed state is permanent. This is a core feature of the Service, not a limitation. By sealing a capsule, you acknowledge and accept that its content is final.

5. Content Policy

You agree not to use Sealed to:

  • Send illegal content or content that violates any applicable law.
  • Harass, threaten, or send abusive content to any person.
  • Distribute malware, spam, or fraudulent material.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.

While we cannot read your encrypted capsule content, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used in violation of these terms, based on metadata or reports from recipients.

6. Delivery

We make every reasonable effort to deliver capsules at the scheduled time. Delivery is attempted via email to the recipient address you provide. If delivery fails, we will retry up to 5 times. We are not responsible for failed deliveries due to incorrect email addresses, full inboxes, or email provider filtering.

7. Service Availability

Sealed is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or provide a Service Level Agreement (SLA). We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes to the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to preserve your capsules and deliver them as scheduled.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sealed and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, missed deliveries, or emotional distress. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, your account data will be removed. Sealed capsules that have not yet been delivered will still be delivered as scheduled -- this is consistent with the principle of irreversibility.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
